SUCCESS! GORDON HILL... COULD USE A LITTLE HELP.
PLEASE READ... PLEASE TELL OTHERS!
The story of Gordon Hill, is a bit of a sad one, Gordon, had a bad turn of events in his life recently. He is a man in his late 40's that kept to himself and is a kind of nerdish quiet fellow. We all know the type. Introspective, respectful and always polite.
His dreams were dashed as he ran into financial hard times and later couldn't find work. He couldn't afford his apartment and moved all the worldly possessions he could fit into his car, where he would also live. Everything else he had to leave behind. He NEVER COMPLAINED. NEVER ONCE did you see him with a frown, or talk of his hard times. Everyday, I would come to workout at the gym, and I would see his packed parked car sitting in the corner of the parking lot. While I was on the bike, Gordon would come in, shower, use the rest room and go back to sit in his car. He was there in all types of weather from the SUPER HOT California days of summer to the rainy and cold days of winter. Gordon was always warm and friendly. He never created a commotion, He sat in his drivers seat .. and that is where he lived and passed the time away. He was either reading an old found news paper or sitting there deep in thought.
He rarely traveled to far from the car as other homeless people might scavenge his meager possessions.
Somewhere along the way, some zealous parking ticket official gave him a ticket. Gordon could not afford to pay. Time passed. One day I saw him standing where his car used to be parked... this was private property... I asked him where his car was? He said.. it was towed away for an unpaid parking ticket.
That over zealous parking official in his quest to meet a quota, took in one fell swipe... ALL of his earthly possessions. All of his clothes. All of his keepsakes... and the only home he had. By the time I had noticed , the car had been impounded for over a month.... and what was owed to the city impound was more than his broken down 85 Camry was worth.
With no money to reclaim his car or possessions Gordon has been forced to live in the street. Gordon is a bit backwards. He is HIGHLY intelligent, soft spoken, and a shy loner. He is not a drinker, nor a drug addict and has never had an arrest record. He never once asked for help.
What got me... and what made me HAVE to get involved to do something to help this man....was after I left the gym late one night. I made a turn and saw him standing in the darkness. it was pitch black and he was standing under an awning. He was alone. He wasn't sitting on someone else's property.. he was just standing still. Can you imagine that? It tore me up. I gave him 20 dollars to buy some food. He said he gets a small amount in food stamps and thanked me. People in the gym want to help too... but the management won't allow signs and won't collect on anyone's behalf. It's a corporate thing....Nothing personal.

It would be great if EVERYONE reading this would be so kind as to donate a small amount of money to him... AND SHARE THIS STORY ON THEIR LINKS... IT WOULD HELP ALOT!! PLEASE!!! There are so many generous people in this world. EACH of us can help a little.
The plan is to gather enough money.. to buy a small self sufficient motor home for him. We want to make sure it runs good, with everything working. We want to make sure that he has basic insurance and that the car is registered for one year too.
I have been looking on Craigslist. There are some nice older ones for about $3,500. Insurance would be about $750-$1000 for the year and registration and tax and a few fixes here and there would be about $1,000 - $1,500.
If we could put together $7,000 dollars we could help one person become mobile, have a place to live safely.. be independent, and be able to work again and not be afraid to leave his "HOME" for fear of having what little he has left... stolen.
If anyone locally has a decent and running self contained camper and want to help... please contact me through this link.
I am not a person that has ever asked others to help anyone. THINK ABOUT HOW FORTUNATE WE ARE.... that we have a place to live... a car... and have friends and family. EVEN if we had none of the above.. we would still probably be better off than Gordon Hill. LET'S HELP HIM.
I have contacted PayPal and they showed me how to set up an email for him and how to use my regular account to accept donations on his behalf.

I MUST SAY, THAT WHEN I TOOK THIS PROJECT ON.... I DIDN'T REALIZE HOW MUCH WORK IT INVOLVED... I DIDN'T REALIZE HOW MUCH TIME IT WOULD TAKE. I ESTIMATE THAT FROM AUGUST 20TH 2013 UNTIL DEC 3RD 2013, I AVERAGED 20-25 HOURS A WEEK AND ABOUT 350-375 HOURS IN TOTAL TO DO THIS PROJECT.
PRO I HAVE NEVER BEEN A PHILANTHROPIST, BUT I SAW A NEED AN KNEW SOMEONE HAD TO BE A CATALYST TO HELP.
I KNEW I COULD BUILD WEBSITES, AND THAT I HAD ENOUGH REAL FRIENDS AS WELL AS FACEBOOK FRIENDS THAT WOULD BE INTERESTED IN HELPING. I BUILT THIS WEBSITE... GOT A SPECIFIC EMAIL ADDRESS.. SET UP PAYPAL TO ACCEPT DONATIONS ON GORDON'S BEHALF. THEN I UPDATED THE 2 FACEBOOK PAGES AND THE WEBSITE TWICE A DAY... EVERYDAY. THIS TOOK SO MUCH TIME ON A DAILY BASIS. I COULDN'T SLEEP IF IT WASN'T DONE. SAM AND MARILYN MAVROS STARTED OFF THE LARGE GIVING...THEN, THE SHORT'S FROM AUSTRALIA STARTED TO HELP WITH THEIR LARGE DONATIONS.... AND THE BALL STARTED ROLLING. IT TOOK A WHILE.. AND WE DIDN'T GET AS FAR AS WE COULD OR SHOULD HAVE... BUT WE DID A GREAT JOB! ABOUT 2 MONTH AGO, I STARTED LOOKING FOR A CAMPER. I SAW MANY DOGS. I DROVE 986 MILES FROM VENTURA TO 29 PALMS .. AND WAS DISAPPOINTED EVERY TIME. ONCE I FOUND THE CAMPER I FELT GOOD ABOUT, I BARGAINED AND GOT A GREAT DEAL. I TOOK IT HOME AND BOUGHT WOOD TRIM, PAINTS, KNOBS AND LOTS OF SUPPLIES TO SMOOTH OUT THE ROUGH SPOTS. MARIA TRAZO HELPED ME CLEAN AND MAKE THE MOTOR HOME.... A HOME. SHE TOOK A RIDE TO SEE SOME TOO. LATER, I PAINTED THE STRIPES THAT WERE SUN FADED BACK ONTO THE RV... THEN DETAILED IT. THEN I SEARCHED FOR A SMOG PLACE AND RAN AROUND MAKING SMALL FIXES IN ORDER FOR IT TO PASS ON ITS OWN MERITS. I THEN REGISTERED IT, PAID TAXES AND FEES ON IT... AND FINALLY INSURED IT.... ALL IN GORDON HILL'S NAME. THIS WAS AN INTENSE PROJECT. I WISH EVERYONE WOULD TRY SOMETHING LIKE THIS....IT TAKES TIME. IT WILL MAKE YOU A BETTER PERSON. I FEEL LIKE I HELPED SOMEONE. I HOPE NOW HE CAN PASS IT FORWARD, AND MOVE HIS OWN LIFE FORWARD, OUT FROM THE RUT AND FULFILL SO MUCH MORE THAN TO JUST SURVIVE. I WANT TO THANK SMALL GROUP GENEROUS PEOPLE THAT GAVE IN MONETARY WAYS... AS WELL AS THOSE THAT SHARED AND LIKED... AND DID WHAT THEY COULD... FREQUENTLY. I APPRECIATE THE FACT THAT WE PLAYED AS ONE EVER LARGER TEAM THROUGHOUT. TAKE A BOW... THANK YOU.
I WANT TO THANK MY FRIEND MARCO VERDIER, AT THE GYM FOR KEEPING ME INFORMED ON GORDON WHILE I WAS BUSY CHASING AND WORKING THE GOAL.
